Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

🌺 I will share an important point regarding Wudu. Many of you may already know it, but still, this is a reminder for both those who know and those who do not.

✅ That is: washing each part of the body once during Wudu (according to its rules) is Fard (obligatory). Washing it twice or three times is Sunnah.

✅ That means the parts of the body we wash must be fully covered with water the first time itself—no area should be left dry. The required parts should be washed properly so that water reaches all of them. Then, for following the Sunnah, you may wash them 2 or 3 times.

🛑 What many people do: they wash the face once, but some areas of the face remain dry. Then they think, “I still have two more chances!” So in the third wash they try to make sure water reaches everywhere. This is a big mistake!

🌺 Many acts of reward are connected with performing wudu properly. In many hadiths you will see it mentioned as “performing wudu in an excellent manner,” followed by descriptions of its virtues. Therefore, if wudu is not done correctly, none of those rewards will be attained.

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (RA),
“The Prophet ﷺ would complete his ablution by washing each part once.”

— Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith: 157

Islamic scholars agree that in ablution (wudu) it is obligatory to wash each limb once. However, washing each limb twice or three times is Sunnah.

In Hadith number 157 of Sahih al-Bukhari, it is narrated from Ibn Abbas (ra) that he said:
“The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution by washing each limb once.”
