Sahur

Sahur is the food eaten in the last part of the night before starting the fast. Eating Sahur is a Sunnah and there is blessing in it.

It has come in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

Muhammad ﷺ said, ﷺ বলেছেন
"You take Sahur, because there is blessing in Sahur."

There is no specific supplication or intention for Sahur.

Only intending for the fast in the mind is sufficient.


Iftar

Iftar is breaking the fast exactly at sunset. Doing Iftar quickly is a Sunnah.

It has come in the Hadith that Muhammad ﷺ said- Muhammad ﷺ said, ﷺ বলেছেন-

"People will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten the Iftar." Sahih al-Bukhari


Rules of doing Iftar

1. First, saying "Bismillah"
2. Breaking the fast with dates / water

3. After that, read this supplication

إِذَا أَفْطَرَ قَالَ
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Pronunciation
Dhahabaẓ-ẓama'u wabtallatil-‘urūqu wa thabatal-ajru in shā' Allāh

Meaning
The thirst has gone, the veins have become moistened, and if Allah wills, the reward is assured.

  • There is no intention or specific supplication in Sahur
  • There is blessing in Sahur
  • Hastening Iftar is a Sunnah
