Salah (Prayer) is one of the main pillars of Islam, and it is a direct command from Allah Ta'ala to us. Allah has explicitly commanded us in the Holy Qur'an, ‘Establish Salah.’ Therefore, performing Salah is not just an act of worship, but rather the ultimate expression of submission and obedience to our Creator.
A Muslim performs Salah (prayer) five times a day because it is the decree of Allah, a proof of obeying His command, and a means to keep Iman (faith) alive. It is human nature to forget. Amidst worldly work, busyness, joy, and sorrow, we very easily forget our Rabb (Lord). The five daily prayers protect us from that forgetfulness, repeatedly reminding us whose servants we are, why we were created, and where our true destination lies.
Salah (Prayer) cleanses our hearts and expiates our sins. Salah is the command of Allah, the remembrance of Allah, and the most beautiful gift for gaining proximity (closeness) to Allah.
