The core calculation of Zakat-
📌 Your total Zakat-eligible wealth × 2.5% = Zakat.
Now let’s go step by step:
Step 1: Add up all Zakat-eligible assets.
Example
- Cash money → 150,000 Taka
- Bank → 50,000 Taka
- Gold → 50 grams (will calculate the total value according to today's market rate (sell price) of gold; in the case of Zakat, gold's calculation is done according to the current market's selling price, meaning based on the price that will be obtained if gold is sold today)
- After that, 2.5% of that total value (Example: Market price per gram is 7,000 Taka × 50 = 3,50,000 Taka)
- Business goods → 100,000 Taka
Total = 6,50,000 Taka
Step 2: Multiply the total amount by 2.5%.
650,000 × 2.5% = 16,250 Taka
This is your Zakat amount.
Remember briefly
- Zakat calculation will be according to the current market rate
- Old purchase price will not be considered
- 2.5% Zakat must be given if the Nisab (minimum threshold) is complete
