To truly know Allah, one must understand Tawheed.
What is Tawheed?
Let us learn about Tawheed.
Tawheed means the Oneness of Allah. Allah is One.
There is no one like Allah.
He does not call upon anyone for help; rather, everyone seeks help from Him.
He alone is the Creator of everything in the universe. He alone is the Controller. He alone sustains and takes care of all things.
The core message of Tawheed.
The core message of Tawheed is—
"La ilaha illallah”
Meaning: There is no god worthy of worship except Allah.
This statement means:
We do not consider anyone or anything equal to Allah,
We worship only Allah, and no one else.
Tawheed is divided into three parts.
1.Tawheed ar-Rububiyyah (The Oneness of Allah in His Lordship) —
It means that Allah alone is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Controller of the universe.
It means that Allah alone is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Controller of the universe.
2.Tawheed al-Uluhiyyah (The Oneness of Worship) —
It states that only Allah is deserving of worship. He alone must be worshipped.
Example: Prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), supplication (Dua), sacrifice (Qurbani), Hajj, and Zakat — all acts of worship must be done only for Allah. No act of worship should be performed thinking about what people will say, whether they will praise or respect you.
3.Tawheed al-Asma wa as-Sifat (The Oneness of Allah’s Names and Attributes) —
It means that Allah’s names and attributes belong only to Him, and there is none like Him.
Example: Allah is “All-Knowing” (Al-‘Aleem) and “All-Powerful” (Al-Qadeer), among His beautiful names and attributes.
His knowledge and power can never be compared to that of His creation.
