This is the foundation of our faith (Iman). However, faith is not just something that is spoken; for faith to be complete, three conditions must be fulfilled. Pay close attention to this part:

In Islam, faith (Iman) is not only a verbal declaration, but a combination of belief, speech, and actions. If the following three conditions are not fulfilled, faith is not complete:

1. Tasdeeq bil-Qalb — believing with the heart.

Meaning: To sincerely believe in the heart that Allah exists, that He is One, and that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His Messenger.

Explanation: In other words, it is not enough just to say that you have faith; true belief must be in the heart and mind. There should be no doubt in it.

2.Iqrar bil-Lisan — affirming with the tongue.

Meaning: To verbally declare the testimony of faith — that is, saying “La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah.”

Explanation: After believing in the heart, it must be expressed verbally. This is the public declaration of being a Muslim. When a non-Muslim accepts Islam, they must pronounce the Kalima with their tongue.

3. Amal bil-Jawarih (proving it through actions).

Meaning: Reflecting faith through the body’s limbs. In other words, showing obedience through visible actions.

Explanation: All acts of worship we perform—such as Salah (prayer), Sawm (fasting), Hajj, Zakat, etc.—serve as proof of faith through actions.

In summary, Iman (faith) is:

Faith in the heart.

Declaration by the tongue.

Prove by work

True faith (Iman) is completed through the combination of these three elements. Complete Iman is not fulfilled without a firm belief in these six matters.

Just as a house stands on a solid foundation, the Iman (Faith) of a Muslim is likewise established upon these six pillars. These guide a person's heart, thoughts, deeds, and life onto the right path.

The six pillars of Iman (Faith) are:

1.
