Rather, Islam has granted daughters honor, love, security, and the good news of Paradise. Islam came to a society where people were ashamed when a daughter was born and many buried them alive. Islam abolished that dark practice and established the dignity of daughters.

About female children in the Quran

In the Holy Qur'an, Allah, the Exalted, says: “To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He gives daughters to whom He wills and gives sons to whom He wills.” Surah Ash-Shura 42:49

This verse indicates that a daughter is a special gift and blessing from Allah.

Islam has ended the cruelty of the Jahiliyyah era.

Before Islam, in Arab society, the birth of a daughter was considered a disgrace. Islam came and strictly forbade this injustice.

In the Holy Qur'an, Allah says: “When the buried female child is asked, for what crime was she killed?” Surah At-Takwir 81:8-9

This verse is strong proof of Islam's compassion and respect for daughters.

The virtues of raising a daughter

Muhammad (peace be upon him) was extremely kind to his daughters. He respected them, loved them, and encouraged their proper upbringing.

He said, “Whoever raises two daughters with care until they come of age, he will be with me like this on the Day of Judgment.”

Then the Prophet ﷺ joined his two fingers. When Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) arrived, the Prophet ﷺ would stand, welcome her, and seat her in his own place. Sunan Abu Dawud, hadith number 5217.

It teaches us that honoring women is a Sunnah.

A daughter is a trust from Allah.

It is not part of Islamic teaching to consider a daughter weak or a burden.
