Meaning of the word \"Quran\"\nThe word \"Quran\" (\u0627\u0644\u0642\u0631\u0622\u0646) means \"that which is readable\", \"recitable\", or \"the book that is frequently read.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arabic Root: The word Quran is derived from the root verb \"qara'a\" (\u0642\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0623\u064e), which means \"to read\" or \"to recite.\"<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Meaning of Surah\nThe word Surah means \"separation\" or \"eminence\"\u2014implying that the reader of the Quran progresses from one Surah or level of high status to an even higher distinct status. It is also said to mean \"elegance\" or \"excellence.\" In the Arabic language, it is used to denote a fortress or citadel. Furthermore, a complete or full she-camel is also called Suratun in Arabic. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 1 \u2013 p. 52)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Meaning of Ayah:\nAyah means a sign, token, or miracle. As stated in Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 242: \"Inna ayata mulkihi...\"&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meaning, \"Indeed, the sign of his kingship (referring to Prophet Talut \/ Saul, peace be upon him)...\" Its meaning can also denote something extraordinary or wondrous. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 1 \u2013 p. 52)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Total Number of Ayahs:\nThe total number of Ayahs (verses) in the Quran is recorded as 6,214, with other variant counts mentioned such as 6,219, 6,225, and 6,226.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abu Amr ad-Dani has recorded these narrations in his book \"Kitab al-Bayan\".
