Meaning of the word Qur'an<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The word \u201cQur\u2019an\u201d (\u0627\u0644\u0642\u0631\u0622\u0646) means \u201creadable\u201d, \u201crecitable\u201d or \u201ca book that is read\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Arabic root: The word Qur\u2019an comes from the root \u201c\u0642\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0623\u064e\u201d (\u0995\u09cd\u09ac\u09be\u09b0\u09be\u2019\u0986), which means \u201cto read\u201d or \u201cto recite\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. The meaning of the word \"Surah\"<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe word \u201dsura\" means separation or elevation. That is, the reader of the Qur'an can move or ascend from one sura, or higher rank, to an even higher rank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also said that its meaning is courtesy or excellence. In Arabic, it is also called a fortress. One of the greatest commentators of the Quran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the foremost exegetes of the Qur'an was Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was appointed leader of the Hajj delegation during the time of Hazrat Ali (RA).
