1. Meaning of the word Qur'an
The word “Qur’an” (القرآن) means “readable”, “recitable” or “a book that is read”.
Arabic root: The word Qur’an comes from the root “قَرَأَ” (ক্বারা’আ), which means “to read” or “to recite”.
2. The meaning of the word "Surah"
“The word ”sura" means separation or elevation. That is, the reader of the Qur'an can move or ascend from one sura, or higher rank, to an even higher rank.
It is also said that its meaning is courtesy or excellence. In Arabic, it is also called a fortress. Moreover, a full-grown, mature camel is also called “suratun” in Arabic.

3. Meaning of the word "ayat"
“Ayat” means sign or indication.
In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 248, it is said:
إِنَّ آيَةَ مُلْكِهِ
That is, the sign or mark of his—Prophet Talut (peace be upon him)—becoming a king.
It could mean something amazing, too.

4. How many verses are there in the Quran?
There are different opinions regarding the total number of verses in the Qur'an.
Some say there are 6,214 verses, some say 6,219, some say 6,225, and others say 6,226.

5. One of the greatest commentators of the Quran
One of the foremost exegetes of the Qur'an was Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
He was appointed leader of the Hajj delegation during the time of Hazrat Ali (RA). In his sermon, he recited Surah Al-Baqarah and expounded upon it so beautifully that it is said—if the disbelievers of Turkey, Rome, and Daylam had heard it, they would have become Muslims on the spot without uttering a word.

She was the daughter of Hazrat Umar ibn Khattab (RA) and the wife of the Prophet (PBUH).

In the Quran, there are surahs named after six prophets.

13. Total words in the Quran
Ata ibn Yasar (ra) said that the total number of words in the Qur'an al-Majid is 77,439.
There is a disagreement on this matter.

14. Total letters in the Quran
During his reign, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf gathered qaris, hafiz, and scribes and instructed them to learn about the letters of the Qur'an.
They research and find that the number of letters in the Quran is 323,671.
There is also a disagreement on this matter.

15. The Middle Word of the Qur'an
The most central word in the Qur'an is in verse 19 of Sura al-Kahf:
وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْ

16. The Language of the Qur'an
Imam al-Qurtubi says that the consensus of the scholars is that within the Qur'an there is no grammatical structure of non-Arabic (ajami) languages other than Arabic.
However, the Qur'an contains some non-Arabic names, such as Ibrahim, Nuh, Lut, etc.
17. In which surah is Bismillah repeated twice?
Surah An-Naml — بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ appears twice.

20. The longest verse of the Quran
The longest verse in the Qur'an is verse 282 of Sura Al-Baqara.

Maryam (peace be upon her) is the only woman for whom there is a complete surah in the Qur'an.
