We call ourselves Muslims, don’t we? But do you know its meaning?
Is a Muslim simply someone who believes in the existence of Allah, or someone who has completely submitted their will to Allah?
If being a Muslim only meant believing in monotheism and acknowledging that Allah is the Creator of everything, then from this perspective, would Iblis also not be a “Muslim”? Because he too believes in the existence of Allah.
A Muslim (مسلم) means — a person who submits themselves to Allah and lives according to His commands.
In other words, a Muslim is someone who obeys Allah and follows His commands.
Allah Ta’ala says—
"Truly, the only acceptable religion in the sight of Allah is Islam."
Surah Ali 'Imran 3:19
Allah Ta’ala also says—
“And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, 'Indeed, I am of the Muslims.'?”
Surah Fussilat, 41:33
A true Muslim strives to lead their life to attain the pleasure of Allah and to act according to the Qur'an and Sunnah.
