The Holy Qur'an repeatedly emphasizes the importance of prayer, and the azan is Allah's call to prayer.

1. What to Say Along with the Mu’adhdhin

Whatever the Mu’adhdhin says, you should say the same.

Allahu Akbar → Allahu Akbar
Say the same way.

Allahu Akbar → Allahu Akbar
Say the same way.

Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah
Say the same way.

Ashhadu anna Muhammadar Rasulullah →
Say the same way.

Hayya ‘alas-Salah →
La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

God is the Exalted, the Successful
La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

Allahu Akbar → Allahu Akbar
Say the same way.

La ilaha illallah →
Say the same way.

Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (ra) said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Whoever hears the Mu’adhdhin and says these words, all his sins will be forgiven.”

2. Dua after the Azan

After the adhan, we will first recite the darood.

Then the special prayer of the Adhan will be recited:

Allahumma Rabba hadhihid-da‘watit-tammati was-salatil qa’imati, ati Muhammadanil wasilata wal-fadilata, wab‘athhu maqamam mahmudanilladhi wa‘adtah, innaka la tukhliful mi‘ad.

3. . Du‘a Between the azan and Iqamah

“Supplications are not rejected between the adhan and the iqamah.”
That is to say, prayers are accepted at this time.

At this time, any good prayer can be made, such as:

Asking Allah for forgiveness

Seeking Paradise

Seeking the well-being of this world and the Hereafter

Some brief and important supplications between the adhan and the iqamah.

This is a special time for the acceptance of prayers, so it is best to recite short prayers here, as well as the prayers from the Qur'an and those taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

1. Seeking refuge from Hell

اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

Pronunciation: O Allah, protect me from the Fire.

Meaning: O Allah, protect me from the fire of Hell.

2. Dua for Asking for Paradise

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ

Pronunciation: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise.

Meaning: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise.

3. Prayer for the well-being of this world and the Hereafter

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Pronunciation: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina ‘adhaban-nar

Meaning: O our Lord, grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of Hell.

4. Prayer for parents

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Pronunciation: Rabbir hamhuma kama rabbayani saghira

Meaning: O my Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was little.

5. The Prayer for Establishing Salat

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

Pronunciation: Rabbij‘alni muqimas-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du‘a

Meaning: O my Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and also some of my offspring. O our Lord, accept our prayer.

This is an extremely valuable opportunity to pray to Allah.
