Tawbatun Nasuha Meaning is-Sincere, heartfelt, and genuine repentance.
In the repentance that is sincere—
- Deep repentance for sin
- Seeking forgiveness from Allah
- A firm decision not to commit that sin again in the future.
It's not just about saying “Astaghfirullah” with the mouth; rather, it's turning back to Allah with the heart, thoughts, and actions.
The Qur'an instructs on the repentance of Nasuh.
Allah, the Exalted, has directly commanded us:
“O you who believe! Turn to Allah in sincere repentance (taubatan nasūhā). It is hoped that your Lord will forgive your sins and admit you into Paradise.” (Surah At-Tahrim: 8)
This verse proves that true repentance is a means of forgiveness of sins and of attaining Paradise.
The benefits of repentance
All sins are forgiven.
No matter how great the sin, Allah forgives it through sincere repentance.
“Surely Allah forgives all sins.” (Surah Az-Zumar: 53)
2. The heart is purified and peace comes.
Repentance lightens the human heart and soothes the soul.
3. One attains the love of Allah.
Allah Ta’ala says— “Surely Allah loves those who repent.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 222)
4. Success in the Hereafter is assured
No one is safe without repentance. Repentance makes the path to Paradise easy.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said:
“Every son of Adam sins, and the best of sinners are those who repent often.” (Tirmidhi)
Who will do Tawbatun Nasuha?
✔ Those who have committed major sins
✔ Those who repeatedly commit minor sins
✔ Those who have made a mistake, whether they know it or not.
✔ Those who have turned away from Allah
✔ Even the righteous believers
Everyone should perform Tawbat al-Nasūhā, that is, sincere repentance. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself used to repent every day, even though he was sinless.
The correct method for performing repentance (Tawbatun Nasuha)
The Repentance of Nasuhah 4 conditions There is:
1. Forgiving sins
The sin that is ongoing must be stopped immediately.
2. Deep regret
One must feel genuine shame and pain in the heart.
3. A firm decision not to do it in the future
You must make a vow from the heart: I will never do it again.
4. Restoring a person's rights when they have been violated.
If you damage someone's money, honor, or rights, you must either make amends or apologize.
After that, you must weep before Allah and ask for forgiveness.
The best time to repent
- As soon as it becomes a sin
- The last part of the night (the time of Tahajjud)
- After the prayer
- At any time, until death
“Allah accepts a servant's repentance until the sun rises in the west.” (Sahih Muslim)
Special advice for children
My dear children,
We are human; mistakes are bound to happen. When you make a mistake, don't be discouraged, and don't be ashamed to turn away from Allah. Rather, whenever you make a mistake… Will return to Allah.
Remember
- More merciful than Allah's anger
- Allah is pleased when you repent.
- Repentance does not demean a person; rather, it increases their honor.
Make istighfar regularly, strive to avoid sin, and if you ever fall, immediately get back up through repentance.
I want you to live a life in which Allah is pleased with you and your faces are radiant in the Hereafter.
